Transport on a RORO ship is aimed at oversize cargo that does not fit into standard containers occurring in maritime transport. In this case, cargo is loaded below deck or on board the vessel.
In particular, transport on RORO ships is used for so-called project cargo. This mainly concerns the transport of large and heavy machinery, construction elements, steel, cars, trucks and any other large cargo that will not fit in a container.
Loading of cargo on the RORO
The name RORO itself arose from the way cargo is loaded, i.e. the terms Roll-On and Roll-off. This means that they can either roll on or roll off on their own.
How much does RORO transport cost?
The price of RORO transport is very dependent on the specific load. Valid here will be the size of the load, its weight etc. Each RORO cargo is subject to individual pricing. Below is a drawing showing the RORO vessel and its various decks.
